Fine pen lines over warm paper build a chair of turned legs, scrolled cresting, and woven cane, every curve recorded by Bellery-Defonaines with the patience of a furniture historian. Sepia hatching pools beneath the seat and climbs the back legs, giving the wood weight and grain. The splat curls in a late baroque scroll; stretchers run as clean turned dowels between the feet. Upholstery is left to a few soft grey tones, so the joinery does the talking. It belongs above a writing desk, in a book-lined study, or along a hallway where guests slow down to look.
