Castle of King Gesar

A fortress crowns the pass. Castle of King Gesar shows Nicholas Roerich stacking stone towers above a sweep of high-altitude ridgeline, the citadel the lone claim of architecture against all that rock. Cool blues dominate. Layered peaks recede from cobalt to a pale horizon haze, while the stronghold itself carries hard ochre and shadowed gray walls, blockwork reading in clean rectangular facets. Small lit windows puncture the mass, and thin snowfields thread the lower slopes. The Gesar legend hangs over these mountains, and Roerich paints the hero castle as if carved from the terrain itself. Suited to a study, a reading room, or an entryway that favors high landscapes.
