Carmel Coast

Surf whitens against the Carmel shore while low fog thins above the headland. Guy Rose painted this stretch of California coastline with a salt-scoured palette, the sea moving from slate to cerulean in one wide, breathing band. Look at how the breakers carry pale strokes of titanium white, each wave crest laid on thick enough to catch light from the side. Cypress silhouettes hold the ridge line in near black, their wind bent shapes a counterweight to all that open water. The sand reads warm, almost apricot, against the cool blues. A seascape like this suits a coastal bedroom or a reading nook with linen and weathered wood, where the horizon can run its full width.
