Capolago

Blue water fills the lower half of Capolago, the lake scene Cuno Amiet set down in short, loaded strokes of oil color that still look wet where light hits the surface. Across the surface, cobalt and green sit side by side without blending, so the water reads as moving light rather than flat color. A dark ridge closes the far shore. Rooftops and cypress shapes cluster near the bank, small against the mass of the mountain. A stairwell landing or a dining room suits it, anywhere the daylight shifts, because the painted water keeps answering every change in the light.
