Cape Inubo Lighthouse

White lighthouse on the headland at Cape Inubo, painted by Fujishima Takeji in the yoga tradition of Western style Japanese oil painting. Salt haze softens the horizon where the Pacific begins. The tower is a plain cylinder of whitewash, its lantern room capped in dark iron. Below, the headland drops in layered green and umber rock, and surf pounds the cliff base into foam. Broad, loaded brushwork carries the scene, pale at the horizon and deepening blue overhead. A coastal image like this suits a study or stairway landing, where changing daylight meets the cold brightness of the shore.
