By the Eure River Mist Effect

Grey fog sits low on the water at daybreak, dissolving the far bank into bands of pearl and willow green. Gustave Loiseau titled the scene By the Eure River Mist Effect. Oil laid in trellised hatching gives the surface its tremor, every crossed stroke catching where water meets air. Reflections break and reassemble, silver over slate, while a dark line of pollards holds the middle distance. Nothing shouts. Everything drifts. A hallway that catches early light suits it well, or a reading nook where quiet mornings set the pace and the room keeps its voice down.
