By the Eure River

Willows lean over slow jade water in By the Eure River, where Gustave Loiseau follows the current past poplars and low pasture banks under a washed sky. Pigment sits in a tight trellis, short crosshatched strokes stacking emerald against cobalt so the surface shivers with reflected foliage. Grass on the near bank is dragged thick, each blade a fleck of ochre. A whitewashed house and one stone arch wait at the bend, light breaking cold and silver across the shallows. Pale wood and linen suit a reading nook or study; the cool greens and unhurried current settle a room into easy calm.
