Dark rocks shoulder their way into cold sea water in Brzeg morza i skaly, a marine study by Ferdynand Ruszczyc of the Young Poland circle. The shore is the whole argument here, rock against tide. Broad strokes of slate, umber and greenish gray build the stone masses, while the water carries pale foam and thin streaks of reflected light. Ruszczyc paints thick, letting the brush ridges catch the eye, so the cliffs feel quarried rather than merely described. The sky above stays narrow and hushed. A work like this suits a study or hallway where strong, quiet color can anchor the room without noise.
