Blumen in Landschaft

Flowers crowd the meadow in Blumen in Landschaft, each bloom outlined with the deliberate, storybook hand that Andre Bauchant brought to his painted gardens. Look closely and the picture splits into zones of color: vermillion and rose clusters pressed against a hedge line, white daisies scattered through a strip of green grass, a pale blue sky holding one small tree at the horizon. Bauchant flattens the perspective so every petal keeps its own shape, the naive naif painting style giving the whole field an almost tiled, decorative order. A sunroom, breakfast nook, or hallway gallery wall with light wood and linen upholstery would let these flowers open fully.
