Deep blue water rolls shoreward in flat, curving bands, every crest drawn as one looping line. Blue seascape, Wave Effect shows Georges Lacombe reducing the open sea to pure pattern. Cobalt, teal, and viridian lie in stacked planes, the horizon set high so water fills nearly the whole surface. Crests curl like hooked scrolls, a cadence the Nabi borrowed from Japanese prints, while the sky narrows to a thin pale band at the top. Cool in temperature and low in contrast, it settles a study, an entryway, or a bedroom, lending a quiet interior the pull of the tide.
