Blooming Flowers with Garden Fence

Roses climb a low wooden fence, their crimson heads leaning over pale pickets in this garden study by Koloman Moser. The blossoms fill the upper frame while the fence cuts a clean horizontal across the lower third. The flowers are built from soft washes of rose and shell pink, each petal edged in deeper red where light catches the bloom. Behind them, a wash of sage green suggests leaves and hedgerow, loose and unhurried. The fence itself is rendered in quick, confident strokes of warm brown, its vertical pickets evenly spaced, a quiet rhythm beneath the tangle of stems. A gentle, domestic scene.
