Blooming Apple Trees

Apple trees heavy with white blossom fill the view, branches crossing in loose arcs against a pale spring sky. In Blooming Apple Trees, Kimon Loghi catches an orchard at its single flowering week. Ivory petals and pink buds build up in thick, loaded strokes, while grass below runs in quick green dashes. Trunks lean at odd angles, dark bark scored with short verticals, and light sifts through the canopy in flecks of lemon and cream. It belongs where morning light lands: a sunroom, a breakfast nook, the landing at the top of a staircase. The pale blossom carries across a quiet hallway without shouting.
