Billy-Goat

A horned goat built from flat planes of vermilion, chrome yellow, and ultramarine stands on a bare white field. Billy-Goat reduces the animal to pure geometry, the method of Bart van der Leck. Curved horns sweep as a single dark contour. The body breaks into angular red blocks, one yellow flank, straight black legs. No shading, no softening, no horizon. Each shape meets its neighbor at a hard edge, primaries locked against undiluted white. That is De Stijl discipline at its most exact. It belongs in a study with pale floors, an entryway beside a plain door, or a kitchen that wants one sharp jolt of primary red.
