Biarritz

Waves break across the sands of Biarritz in this seascape by Kimon Loghi. Foam whitens the shoreline while a low horizon holds the Atlantic in a band of cool grey blue. The brushwork moves fast along the water, short horizontal strokes layered into slate and silver, then loosens where wet sand mirrors the sky. Figures on the beach sit small against the swell, their shadows stretched by coastal light. Muted greens and dusty rose filter through the cloud cover.
