Basket of Cherries

Cherries crowd a woven basket, their skins catching the light in points of deep red. Felix Vallotton painted this still life with the calm precision that marked his best work. Dark greens of stems and leaves press against the fruit, and the basket weave shows through in plain, honest strokes.
