Bank of Agarvi

Reeds and pale boulders crowd the waterline where the bank of Agarvi slips into dark, glassy water. Pyotr Konchalovsky built the scene in short, loaded strokes of green and umber. The water carries the sky in broken slate blue bands, while birch trunks lean across the far shore, their foliage a dense weave of emerald and olive. Thick impasto catches light along every ridge of paint, giving the shoreline a tactile, almost sculpted surface. Hang it where quiet looking is welcome: above a reading chair, along a hallway, or in a study that needs the calm of northern water at dusk.
