A heavy cluster of dark fruit anchors the foreground, heaped on a white cloth beside an open casement. Pyotr Konchalovsky titled the scene Balaklava. The window. (The grapes on the table). Oil paint sits thick on the surface, each berry a separate dollop of violet and blue-black with a pale bloom of highlight.
