Autumn View

Across a hillside garden, trees burn amber, chrome yellow, and violet-shadowed green in Autumn View, Pierre Bonnard letting pigment carry the season. No sky interrupts; foliage runs to every edge. Oil paint goes on in stippled touches, so light flickers between leaves instead of falling on them. Trunks lean at odd angles, a tiled roof slips through the canopy, and shadow pools in deep aubergine beneath the gold. Space flattens into pattern, ornament taking precedence over depth. A study lined with bookcases and shaded by low afternoon light would answer the warmth here; an entryway works too, saturated color carrying straight down the hall.
