Autumn Sun

Low golden light floods a Latvian river valley, the kind of afternoon glow Purvitis returned to season after season. Autumn Sun catches that hour when the water turns to hammered brass. Birch trunks burn amber against deep shadow, their crowns thinning to rust and copper. The river carries the sky down its middle, brushed in broad loaded strokes that leave the paint surface almost sculpted. Every tree line leans, every bank is built from thick ochre and russet impasto. Made for a study or reading room where the light comes in low and the walls can hold one strong landscape.
