Autumn

Fallen leaves carpet the ground in amber and rust. Autumn by Kimon Loghi turns a single grove into a study of seasonal color, where bare branches cross against a pale, cooling sky. Burnt sienna and ochre dominate the foliage, worked in loose impressionist brushwork that lets each leaf blur into the next. Thin trunks rise through the haze, their shadows stretching long across the littered earth, while low sunlight warms the upper canopy to copper.
