Autumn

Amber and copper foliage crowds the treetops in Autumn, an Arthur Lowe subject built around the exact week when leaves loosen their grip and the light drops lower. Ochre canopy gives way to bare, dry-brushed trunks; umber shadow pools at the root line while a low sun burns one hedge edge to flame. The brushwork stays loose and loaded in the leaves, then thins to scumbled grey where the sky shows through.
