A young woman in a pale summer dress leans against a garden trellis, her face half turned away, a single flower caught between two fingers. Konstantin Somov titled the scene August, and the name sits perfectly on it. Rose pink and faded lilac wash across the dress, while watercolor greens soften the foliage behind her. Somov draws the trellis lattice in delicate ink lines, crosshatched shadows pooling beneath her arm. The whole sheet breathes with that late summer hush, warm light filtered through leaves onto skin and cloth. It suits a boudoir corner, a dressing table, or a softly lit reading nook where gentle colors belong.
