Still water holds the sky at the Lübbesee, and Max Pietschmann paints it exactly so: reeds at the margin, a flat horizon, the calm of a Brandenburg lake before evening. Oil paint sits thick along the reed beds and thins to a grey green wash where the far bank dissolves. Birch trunks catch pale light. A rowboat lies moored, its reflection broken by ripples, everything keyed to peat brown and muted silver.
