At the Barn

Weathered timber, a roofline sagging under its own age, hay heaped against the doorway. At the Barn catches Pyotr Konchalovsky deep in the Russian countryside, brush loaded, colors unmixed. Ochre and raw umber dominate, broken by cold blue shadow pooling in the farmyard. The impasto sits heavy, each plank and fodder pile built from chunky directional strokes; a cart wheel leans by the gate, a hen scratches the sunlit threshold.
