Low rooftops and white-walled cottages settle beneath Table Mountain in At Claremont, Cape Province, a quiet corner of the Cape rendered by Pieter Wenning. Oaks line the lane, their trunks dark against sunlit ground. Wenning paints in small, patient strokes of olive, dusty blue and warm ochre. Soft Cape light falls across garden walls and gabled roofs, while the mountain shoulder rises grey-violet behind. Shadows are cool, distances hazy, the whole scene kept intimate and modest.
