A plant stem rises against a flat grey ground, magnified until it reads as architecture. Karl Blossfeldt photographed it for Art Forms in Nature 94, turning botanical structure into something closer to sculpture. Hard light rakes across the specimen, catching each node, bristle and folded bud in silver, while shadow pools black between the ridges. The tonality is pure monochrome, grain visible, edges crisp, the neutral backdrop pushing the form forward like a cast bronze on a plinth.
