Two curled tendrils of a climbing plant cross at the center of Art Forms in Nature 59, Karl Blossfeldt photographing them against a plain grey ground at several times natural size. The coils tighten into perfect spirals, each tip tapering to a fine point where new leaf growth begins. Stems show their texture clearly, faint ridges running along every curve, while soft directional light throws a shallow shadow that gives the whole composition weight.
