A single dried flowerhead rises dead center, its florets curled like tiny trumpets all pointing skyward. This is plate 23 from Art Forms in Nature, Karl Blossfeldt's photographic study of plants treated as architecture. Every element sits in crisp focus against a flat pale grey ground. The bracts overlap in tight spirals, each edge catching light differently, so the surface reads almost like carved ivory or worked metal rather than plant tissue. Blossfeldt magnified his specimens several times their true size, and that enlargement turns a common wayside bloom into something resembling a Gothic finial. Suits a hallway, studio wall, or the shelf above a desk where its geometry can be studied up close.
