Tendrils of a bryony plant curl across the frame in tight silver spirals, each coil gripping its neighbor like drawn wire. Karl Blossfeldt photographed this specimen against a plain ground, magnifying the plant until its grip becomes geometry. Every filament throws a hard edge of light; the shadows between coils go almost black. Tonal greys carry the whole image, from pale silver to deep charcoal. Botanical precision of this kind suits a study, a hallway, or a reading nook with quiet walls.
