A seed pod of the columbine splits open at the top, its hollow chambers flaring outward like small trumpets. Karl Blossfeldt recorded it in Art Forms in Nature 15, one of his magnified plant portraits from the New Objectivity years. Every filament and vein stands in sharp relief against a flat grey ground. The dried husk has gone pale beige, its edges curled and papery, while the inner carpels still hold their architecture, five points radiating from a single base. Nothing is smoothed over; the wrinkles, splits, and torn margins are all part of the record. A study, a hallway, or a reading nook with strong natural light would suit it well, paired with linen, oak, or plain plaster walls.
