Dried seed capsules split open in a fan of pointed valves, each edge caught in cold grey light. Karl Blossfeldt photographed the specimen at several times natural size for Art Forms in Nature 112, turning a dead flower head into a starburst of geometry. The tonal scale runs from deep charcoal at the core to pale silver along the flared tips, and every hair and rib of the plant surface stays needle sharp. Fine grain and firm vertical posture give the image the gravity of an architectural drawing. Hang it where quiet concentration rules: a study wall, a hallway, or above a reading desk.
