Arched Door

A pointed stone arch frames a heavy door of iron-studded planks, the keystone worn smooth, in Arched Door by Sevket Dag. Cool shadow gathers at the sill. Weathered limestone glows amber where light strikes the voussoirs, and pale plaster peels from the wall above in ragged patches. A brass knocker hangs at head height. The threshold stone dips in the middle. Beyond the gap, whitewashed courtyard walls catch midday glare. It suits an entryway with stone floors, a stair landing, or a study where late light moves across bookshelves and worn leather chairs.
