Apple Twigs in Bloom

Apple twigs in bloom opens at eye level. Cut branches stand tall in a stoneware jug, pale petals against dark bark, a spring still life by Pyotr Konchalovsky. The brushwork sits thick, so each blossom reads as a loaded dab of white blushed with pink, stamens dotted in yellow, young leaves a bright sap green. Grey stems cross like charcoal lines.
