Anemone

Anemone petals flare in raspberry and violet, black hearts packed deep at the center of each cup. Pyotr Konchalovsky lays the paint on thick, ridges standing where a bloom turns toward the light. Stems cross inside a plain tumbler, water gone green where they bend. The ground behind holds cool grey and flat, so the color reads hotter against it. Short angled strokes stack along the table edge, leaving the surface dense and uneven, shadow pooled in every ridge. A dining room or an entryway suits it, anywhere cut flowers pass through and the walls want the same late summer heat.
