Alupka Park

Cypress spires rise over the terraced slopes of Alupka Park in this work by Konstantin Bogaevsky, where the Crimean shoreline climbs toward mountains stacked in blue haze. Stone stairways thread the greenery. The painting turns a garden into architecture. Look closely and the park reads as geology made deliberate: dark cypress cones against pale limestone balustrades, umbrella pines casting hard shadows, granite boulders and sea-worn cliffs folded into the planting itself. Bogaevsky renders the coastal light in silvery greens and cold ultramarine, letting the Vorontsov range dissolve into violet distance behind the tree line. Every shadow carries weight.
