Almlandschaft Im Ötztal

Cattle drift across a high alpine meadow in Almlandschaft Im Ötztal, the mountain valley as Albin Egger-Lienz saw it, painted in broad, earth-heavy strokes under a pale Tyrolean sky. Weathered timber huts sit low against the hillside, their grey wood nearly the same tone as the scree behind them. A loose herd grazes in muted browns while the peaks beyond rise in cold slate and old snow. Moss greens, ochre and haze carry the whole scene. It settles naturally into a study or hallway with stone, linen and dark wood, where the quiet of high pasture gives a room its calm.
