About this work

Algoma

Algoma country rolls north of the viewer in heavy greens and bruised sky, the title MacDonald gave to the wilderness he hauled paint into by boxcar and canoe. Thick impasto builds the ridgelines, where iron red and moss green collide along rocky scarps. Below, a river threads pale through dark spruce, and cloud presses flat against a horizon the brush barely contains. Every stroke carries weight, dragged and reworked, the northern bush rendered as texture rather than outline. Hang it in a study or a stairwell landing where its brooding scale can hold the wall on its own.

Frequently asked

Yes. It arrives stretched over a solid wood frame, ready to hang, with the hanging hardware included.

Dust it gently with a soft, dry cloth and keep it out of direct sunlight.

Pick the size that suits your wall and furniture. If you are unsure between two, the larger one usually looks better than expected.

Each piece is made to order and shipped free with tracking, usually within a couple of weeks depending on your location. See our shipping policy for details.

Usually not, but international orders can occasionally be subject to local import fees set by your country. Anything like that is set by customs, not by us.

As each piece is made to order, we do not accept change-of-mind returns. If it arrives damaged or faulty, email support@auvrique.com within 7 days and we will put it right. See our refund policy.
