Alegro (Sonata of the Pyramids)

Pyramid above pyramid climbs the frame, each tier echoing the last like a rising scale. Alegro, from Ciurlionis Sonata of the Pyramids, sets stone architecture moving to musical tempo. The palette runs on sand, ochre and pale apricot, tempered by cool grey shadow along every slanted edge. Figure-like shapes drift between the stepped masses, and the whole surface reads as both landscape and score, brushwork quick and light where the tempo demands it. Suits a study, hallway or stairwell, anywhere ascent is part of the daily rhythm.
