Lindens knit their branches overhead along a grassy promenade, the old shaded walk called the mall at Abramtsevo. Pyotr Konchalovsky sets the eye on the path and lets the crowns close above. Paint sits thick: trunks built from slabbed strokes of grey and violet brown, foliage dabbed in moss green and viridian, sunlight breaking through as pale lemon patches on the turf. Sky flickers between boughs in thin chips of blue. Cool shadow pools at the roots. A reading nook or stair landing takes on the chill of that leafy hour, color deep enough to quiet even the brightest midday room.
