Из Окрестностей Пятигорска

Green foothills roll toward the distant Caucasus wall in Из Окрестностей Пятигорска by Vitold Byalynitsky-Birulya. Open meadow fills the near ground, threaded with pale paths. Broad brushwork lays olive and sage across the slopes, with soft blue haze softening each successive ridge toward the horizon. Low clouds sit heavy over the peaks, their grey pressing down on sunlit grass that keeps a faint yellow glow. Birch trunks catch thin light at the edge of the composition. Suited to a study or reading nook, where the quiet vastness of Russian landscape painting rewards slow looking.
