The title says spring is coming, and the picture proves it: bare ground opening into thaw, a pale sky leaning over the first meltwater. Vitold Byalynitsky-Birulya painted these turnings of season with quiet precision, and this one catches the exact hinge of March. Look at the snow, not white but violet-grey in shadow, slumping where water runs beneath. Puddles hold whole clouds. Bare trees stand at the field edge, their branches still black against the light, while distant roofs catch a weak sun. Every stroke follows the water, the way a realist landscape should. It belongs in a hallway or stair landing, anywhere light changes through the day and the season on the wall can shift with it.
