Windswept Trees, Laguna

Wind-bent eucalyptus lean hard off the hillside, every crown combed seaward by the same sea air. Windswept Trees, Laguna by Guy Rose catches that pressure in loose American Impressionist color. Silver-green leaves stream in one direction while violet shadows pool beneath the twisted trunks. Beyond them the Pacific reads as a band of cobalt and cerulean, surf breaking white, salt haze softening the headland. Broken brushwork keeps the onshore breeze moving across the surface. Give it a wall with good daylight: a sunroom, a stair landing, or a study that wants one open window onto the coastline.
