Notre Dame rises through falling snow in The Pont Henri IV Notre Dame de Paris in the Snow, Gustave Loiseau turning a wet winter morning into near silence. The stone arches of the bridge span dark water, parapets edged in white, a few bundled figures crossing between lamps. Behind them the cathedral towers and flying buttresses fade into pale sky, the snowfall built from small crosshatched strokes of grey, ivory and blue. It suits a quiet study or a light-filled hallway, somewhere the muted palette can hold its own against plain plaster and dark wood.
