About this work

Shadows on the Sea

Shadows on the Sea belongs to the coastal work of Gustave Loiseau, the French post impressionist who painted the Channel shore in every weather. Cloud shadow moves across the water in long bands of violet grey and greenish slate, broken where sunlight strikes the surface in pale flecks. Loiseau builds the swell with short, crossed brushstrokes, so the sea seems to shift even under close viewing. The horizon sits low, leaving most of the composition to the restless water. A study or reading room with cool daylight suits this marine mood well.

Usually not, but international orders can occasionally be subject to local import fees set by your country. Anything like that is set by customs, not by us.
