Grey stone rises sheer above the River Swale in this view of Richmond Castle, North Yorkshire. Richard Jack sets the Norman keep against a soft northern sky, the market town clustered at its feet. The keep stands square and weathered, its blocked masonry rendered in cool greys touched with warm biscuit tones where sunlight rakes across. Below, red-tiled rooftops and dark trees follow the river bend, and open greensward runs to the castle walls.
