Fronds of a horsetail rise in strict vertical order, each jointed stem banded dark against a pale ground. Karl Blossfeldt titled this study Art Forms in Nature 7, enlarging the plant until architecture becomes visible. Silver-grey tonality, deep charcoal shadows at every node. The stems cross the frame like columns drawn by a draftsman, edges razored sharp, surface texture of each sheath resolved in fine grain. Nothing is softened; the photographic surface holds both the velvet of young growth and the wire stiffness of mature shoots. It belongs in a study or a hallway, anywhere a measured, monochrome presence rewards a long look.
