Plate 58 from Art Forms in Nature arranges a cluster of dried seed capsules in strict vertical rhythm, each stem held upright against a flat grey ground. Karl Blossfeldt shot his plant specimens at extreme magnification, and here the camera turns modest botanical material into architecture: ridged husks split along seams, papery skins catch the light along their edges, and fine hairs bristle at every joint. Tonal range runs from deep charcoal shadow to pale silver highlight, giving the surface a sculptural quality. Suited to a study, studio, or hallway where disciplined black and white imagery reads best.
