Horsetail stems rise in strict vertical ranks, each joint ringed and bristling, photographed against a clean pale ground. Karl Blossfeldt titled this study for Art Forms in Nature, and the plate shows why botanists and designers kept his contact sheets close. Fine silver tones hold every hair along the sheath, the black interior of each node, the matte vs glossy play on the stalk. Light rakes across from one side so the ridges cast tiny shadows, giving the stem a carved, almost architectural feel. Suits a hallway, studio wall, or quiet reading corner.
