Velvety bracts fan outward in a strict fan, each pointed tip catching light along its edge. Karl Blossfeldt recorded this plant form in Art Forms in Nature 4, magnifying it until botanical detail reads as architecture. The tonal range runs from deep charcoal at the core to pale silver where light grazes the surface. Fine hairs along each bract stay razor sharp, and the dark, even ground behind them pushes the whole form forward. Every ridge and vein is isolated, nothing softens into background.
